Stay Ready—Even When They Say You’re Safe

Companies will always prioritize their bottom line—and that can mean letting go of great people without warning.

I’ve been transparent about this with everyone I speak to:
Protect your future the way companies protect their profits.

As a recruiter, I’ve seen this across every industry. And I’ve lived it—being part of a mass layoff from what I thought was my dream job. It can happen to anyone. Don’t be caught off guard.

Here’s what I’ve learned since then:

    Have a Safety Net
Build an emergency fund and stay connected to your network. Those relationships matter more than you think.

    🎯 Upskill with Intention
Gaining new skills while you’re still in your role can extend your career. These skills can make you more valuable where you are. I’m currently working on the Google Project Management certification. It’s not just because of its functional relevance. I want to build skills that align with a Recruitment path where these skills can open new doors.

    🧠 Protect Your Mental Health
This one’s tough—especially if you’re a new parent like I am. But leaning on your circle, mentors, or a trusted therapist can make all the difference. Don’t do it alone.

At the end of the day, no one’s going to care about your career more than you.
Stay ready—so you don’t have to get ready.

    Let’s keep building.
